With Cowboys & Aliens, 2011 saw the birth and possible demise of the sci-fi western. That's unfortunate because the film is an entertaining, intriguing depiction of ‘what if’ we only had long rifles, revolvers, dynamite and knives to stave off an extraterrestrial encounter. With Iron Man’s Jon Favreau directing the current James Bond and the one-and-only Indiana Jones, the film plays it straight forward and avoids campiness. Even though you may not know much about boats, but would say that one's upside down, how well do you know Cowboys & Aliens.
