Wes Craven's overview of the horror landscape was that it was a dying genre. Hoping to re-invigorate the concept, the horror icon attempted to turn the concept of the scary movie on its head. The idea was to be self-referential to a point of fault, and the result was a cinematic masterpiece which single-handedly brought horror movies back into the public conscience. Herein lies a score of questions about the first Scream movie which would challenge even Wes Craven himself.
