When Pixar Animation Studios makes a movie these days, you can pretty much guarantee that it will be wildly successful, critically beloved, and sure to bring you to tears. This past summer, though, Pixar bucked the trend just a bit: instead of ensuring the audience waterworks would flow at its new film’s finale, they chose to do just the opposite. This film’s opening 15 minutes got most of the adults weeping, even if the kids weren’t completely clear on what was going on.
